PB Hair: R.I.P 'Rubia'

After spending years of wishing to be a blonde......I became a blonde. Karinna, my favorite hair-stylist over at Raices Beauty Salon & Day Spa, transformed my dark-brown mane, into a beautiful, bright, honey blonde with platinum highlight inspired by the ever-so-lovely Beyonce. (This transition, of course, transpired over several salon visits.) I absolutely loved it! It was the change I was desperately craving for in the New Year. It was fresh, it was bold, it was blonde! I couldn't get enough of my hair! I even talked about going brighter! Yes. Brighter! After about 3 or 4 months of being a blonde, it absolutely pains me to announce that I will have to get rid of my fresh, bold and fabulous blonde tresses!!! *deep sigh*

Why? Well, last week, when I went to Raices for my wash, set and trim, Karinna informed me of some breakage she noticed on the left side of my hair (really weird that only the left side of my hair was affected). Although shocking, I knew I had suffered some sort of damage from the constant 'blow-dry and flat iron-ing' routine, I was doing in between salon visits. (That, in turn, resulted in Karinna having to remove 1.5 inches of hair in order to even out the left side , instead of the trim I had anticipated). SMH. Sooooo......after a loooooooong discussion, we decided that the best option for me, in order to maintain a healthy and strong mane, I would need to say goodbye to my beloved 'Rubia'. *even deeper sigh*

Let us please have a moment of silence for 'Rubia'........
Note: "rubia" is spanish for blonde, in case you were wondering

However! *big smile* all hope is not lost! I will now transition into a lovely "rojo". This, according the my stylist extraordinaire, will be a whole lot safer and less harsh on my hair (and less maintenance too).  So out with the blonde, and in with sexy 'Rojo' ala Keyshia Cole. Just in time for Spring! Can't wait! 'Rojo' premieres April 23!

Stay tuned....

(Sidebar: Did I mention, that I am also transitioning form relaxed to natural? Yep! I have been relaxer-free for about 8 months!!!!! But I will touch more about that later)
